Bringing Australia And Indonesia Together
Through The Indonesian Language
For an historic first time the biennial conference of the Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) will be held in Indonesia next October 1st – 4th. The occasion is doubly significant because ASILE will run back-to-back, in the same venue, with the biennial international conference (called KIPBIPA) of our counterpart organisation in Indonesia, the Asosiasi Pengajar Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (APBIPA). Delegates to each conference will be able to participate freely in sessions of the other conference, and some events will be joint events. ASILE will be in English and KIPBIPA in Indonesian. This is a unique opportunity to connect with Australian, Indonesian and international teachers of Bahasa Indonesia in the cool and beautiful surrounds of Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga, Central Java.
- Whether you present a paper, conduct a workshop, or attend simply to listen, meet people and talk, the conference is a must for teachers, academics and students of Indonesian as well as educational administrators.
- The recent downgrade of DFAT’s travel advisory for most of Indonesia removes the major security obstacle to participation.
